So here we are in Texas, my Mother and I…. we took a Minute (or two) and headed down to Austin to meet my mother’s cousins for the first time. It is our first time to Texas as well.
Mary and Teresa Evan, my mother is Edna Faye Evans… their fathers are half brothers (same father). There are also two others, Susan and Mike who live in their hometown in Minnesota. The names are different because my grandfather had the spelling changed. On a Document from the late 1800’s as our ancestors came from Prussia, the name was spelled Even and Iwan. There are many reasons for name spelling being changed during this time.
I am not really into Genealogy but what a wonderful blessing to meet family that we never knew existed. Now after three days of adventurous bonding we feel like true ‘kin’ bonded forever as family.
Thank you Mary and Mom for working so hard (and spending many Minutes) connecting the dots of our family. For those of you that do not have family may you discover the bonds of family from friends and perhaps even uncovering distant relatives that can now begin a legacy of family for you.
and… we are ALL part of God’s family, Every One……
Do you ever wonder where the time has gone? or if you have taken life for granted with business and being hurried that you missed out on what was really important?
I do. I have.
Now that I am older I am trying… trying to savor each precious day and cherish each moment, giving thanks for each person and their purpose in my life.
I also try to live life fully and deliberately touching the lives of those I love and even those I do not even know.
One thing I know. Life is short, We are each given the same 24 hours each day to spend how we choose. Choose Wisely.
Today My mind is FULL of Possibilities, My Heart is Full of HOPE.
What would you actually do if you had Just One minute? Would you make a phone call, sit in silence, pray, have a “light bulb” moment, forgive someone? I am feeling very introspective today… not that unlike any other day, just more so today. It is going to be a good day.
So I ask my self this morning as my friend Daisy is close to leaving this earth and going into Glory, what will her last minutes be like? What would she have said to her husband and daughters if she could have spoken for one last Minute, had she not been in pain or “made comfortable” because of the pain.
I do know , by others testimony and my own experience, that Daisy was a woman of faith that stood strong even in her weakest moments (and there were too many). Her faith did not waiver, she knew God was her strength and her salvation and she would not be moved.
How we spend our minutes each day are so very precious. I am very thankful that when I had a few minutes on Monday (while at the hospital with my stepdaughter) I went to see Daisy. That few minutes turned into 2 hours. I will not go into details how that time was spent , but it was time I will not forget. God is good to bless us when we listen and act upon the ‘small voice’ that directs us to something important. So my encouragement today is to Listen and respond to any leading that you feel in your spirit. You will end up blessing others and end your days in peace knowing you have done your part in this big world.
Goodbye precious Daisy…. see you soon.
In a Minute I am going to bed…. but let me bake some cookies first. Really? Yep. I had the batter started before I went to Bible Study and “it would only take a minute” I told myself… to finish mixing them and bake them (then when I wake up in the morning they will be done). SO the cookies are done, and …..
NOW in a Minute, I am going to bed….
Today I was not feeling well. This is a very rare occurrence and I blame it on sugar… I ate something refined for the first time in a Very long time and now I am sick.
All that to say, I still had things I really wanted to do. My top three were: making myself some roasted vegetable/Chicken Soup Thrift Shop Hunting for and Finding great deals for my son and his wife’s new flat. I am not a big techy but my Flip Phone (do you know what that is?) sufficed as I took pictures and sent then to get approval for possible purchases. Lastly, I made a delicious Cacoa Silk Pie with Cashews, Coconut Milk and Honey and of course Cacao.
Of which now I have to wait until tomorrow to eat it…. as for now I am going to take a bath and snuggle in bed with a good book.
